A great way to make social media a positive influence in your life is to use it as a tool of inspiration. Here are five artists to follow on Instagram who are not only incredible at what they do but also inspire me in their daily lives.

1: @alythuh

Alyssa Stilos is an incredible example of how far your art can take you if you stay focused and work hard. I began following her on Instagram and Twitter the moment I saw her work because it is absolutely stunning. I became so drawn to her profiles because she gives such a real outlook on her life. She has not only made a living off of her works but has been able to travel the world and completely support herself solely by selling her art. On herTwitter, she is extremely honest and relatable. She talks about the importance of taking mental breaks, her journey and past struggles, and how necessary it is to be patient with yourself and your art.

2: @tippytoegirl

Being a dancer, I am always following new ballerinas and performers. One of my favorite accounts is San Fransisco Ballet’s Natasha Sheehan. She is a beautiful dancer with clean technique and pretty lines, but I love that she shares her other passions on her page. My favorite are her healthy recipes and the other way she keeps up a healthy lifestyle. It can be easy for dancers to become body-image obsessed, and sometimes it is really hard to know how to handle that stress. Having an account on your feed like this one can be great for healthy lifestyle tips.

3: @melovemealot

This is the most unique account I follow and definitely one of my favorites. The artist, who goes by MLMA, has a style that I have truly never seen before. She shares her style in many unique ways including artwork, video edits, music, makeup and through her everyday fashion. It is amazing how much someone can create when they stay focused on who they really are.

4: @nadialeelee

Nadia Lee Cohen shows her style through her stunning photography, videography and modeling. She shows the beauty of simple everyday life in her vintage and aesthetically pleasing photos and self portraits. One of my favorite pieces of hers is her short film titled “A Guide To Indulgence.” It is an “extreme representation” of the constant search for perfection we all look for in life.

5: @mimles

Doing my own hair and makeup for performances, pageants, and events has given me a huge respect for makeup artists. It takes me a lot of time, practice and patience to style myself. So makeup artists like her really take my breath away. Mimi Choi takes this to a whole new level. Makeup in and of itself is a beautiful form of self expression, and creating absolutely stunning works of art using your own face as a canvas is truly amazing.
